The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men...

When we left for our vacation, I thought everything was going nice and smooth, I had a weeks worth of blog posts prescheduled, to post on their appointed days, and we would have random Internet access throughout the trip, to keep some things posted.

HAH!

No sooner did we get our trailer all set up, than I started feeling a lot of pain in my leg.

This is not unusual, this leg has been in constant pain for five years now, and when I overdo it, it hurts worse, so, I took some painkillers and went to bed.

I wasn't feeling real hot the next day, but I figured it would get better soon.

The day after that, I woke up with my leg roughly twice it's normal size, bright red, and so painful I couldn't walk.

OK, this was not good it just kept getting worse, so Diann took me to the hospital, where they admitted me. I spent most of my vacation there, and Diann spent her vacation running back and forth between the hospital, and the campground, where her family was reunioning. (is that a word?)

It was not a fun experience, but it was a reminder.

My friends, my family, and especially my wife, didn't bat an eye. They circled the wagons so to speak, and did whatever was necessary to take care of me.

It's no fun to be in the hospital, but it's great to know that there are so many people who will drop what they are doing and be there for me if I need it.

They are too many to count and name, but they know who they are.

To the ones who read this blog, thank you for being there.

And lest anyone ever forget, I have the most incredible wife in the world.

She spent the last week taking care of me, taking care of a two year old, and still functioning as a normal adult.

And, she drove our trailer back to the original campground where we keep it,

AND...

Get this people...

Are you listening???

She had never backed a trailer before, and yet she backed it in perfectly, in the spot, straight and lined up, on her very first try!!!!

Lets see Martha Stewart, or Susy Homemaker do that!

Thanks Diann,

I Love you!

  2. How about next year for our reunion, we do something wild and crazy like, oh I don't know, just spend time at the beach, or sitting by the campfire gabbing with friends and family! No hopsital visits. No breaking down on the side of the road. No getting flooding. Those things are getting boring!
    I love you too!

  4. Cudos to Diann - that is so hard backing trailers - easier when the HUBBS isn't there to say "a little more to the left - no, turn your wheel the other way...NO - I didn't mean THAT way!..." Get well soon!
