Welcome to Tuesday Trivia Tie-in. Each Tuesday readers are invited to share a blog post about one of their collection and a bit of related trivia.

I wanted to do something a little more outdoorsy this week, so my tie this week is a Lands' End tie. It features baseball players from the Yankees, Tigers, Padres and Eagles.

This one came to me courtesy of E-bay. I am not necessarily a fan of Baseball myself, it ranking somewhere between curling and golf on my "exciting to watch" scale, but I have a whole family full of baseball fans, several of whom have already place "dibs" on this tie when I am done with it.

It is 100% cotton and originally sold for somewhere in the neighborhood of $35, I got mine for $1.99 on E-bay. I just noticed that there is an identical tie for sale on eBay right now for about $10.

And now for a little bit of info about Lands' End.

Lands' End is a clothing retailer based in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, that specializes in casual clothing, luggage, and home furnishings

Lands' End was founded by Gary Comer, of Chicago, in 1963 as a sailboat fitting supply company.

The name was chosen, because Gary thought it had an exotic and romantic name to it, one that implied you were embarking on a sailing journey from some unknown place.

The apostrophe at the end of Lands appears where it does as a result of a typesetting error, Gary simply couldn't afford to have his brochures reprinted, so he left it. Lands' End was one of the biggest mail order suppliers of outdoor clothing and accessories when it was purchased by Sears in 2002 for $1.9 Billion (That isn't a typo, it's Billion with a "B"). Still a subsidiary of Sears Holding Corporation, Lands' End continues to operate mail order and online businesses, but in addition many items from the Lands' End lines appear in Sears Stores.

You may have noticed the newspaper article and headlines in my pics, tomorrow I am going to explore that story a bit in my ABC Wednesday post. Be sure and join me for that.

Ok, Now it's your turn. Enter your link below. Make sure you link to your post and not just your main blog.

Be sure and join me each Tuesday for Tuesday Trivia Tie-in, where readers are invited to share trivia and show off their treasures.

  3. I LOVE BASEBALL!! And, I WANT THIS TIE!!! Did you see the grace and dignified player who so nicely accepted the wrong call from a perfect game?!!! I think he'll be remembered more for his reactions, in history,....as the player who accepted without a fight! Then.......a new car on top?!! Whoa.

My R T is "lady in red"...a portrait of my daughter. Come by and view her if you can find time, I'd love your visit!!
